We meet with homeowners on a daily basis who are frustrated with the state of their current gutters. Whether they are falling off the house, leaking or clogged full of debris — the one common theme is that they have been aggravating their homeowners for years. Many of our customers initially want to get rid of their gutter system entirely, but that can lead to certain problems.
Gutters
help to shed the water from your roofline away from your house — helping to protect your foundation from erosion, settlement, and washing the mulch out of your flowerbeds. You CAN choose to fight the water and spend hundreds of dollars yearly on mulch, thousands on concrete ground drain systems, or you could opt to get a gutter system that actually works.
Although the general shape and look of gutters haven’t changed much over the last 50 years, there have been some significant advancements in the materials, hanger systems and leaf covers.
Nowadays — we have special hangers/fasteners that attach securely to the fascia board—holding the gutters in their proper place. Gutters are made from aluminum instead of the old steel gutters of years past — so they won’t rust and create leaking holes.
There is also the hotly debated subject of leaf covers. We will be the first to tell you — there are close to 100 different types of “leaf-guard” systems out there. Some are tried & true, proven and time-tested; whereas others are flashy, new and inot quite proven over time. And there is a wide range in pricing between them as well.
We have a specific leaf-guard system — which we have used for over 20 years on thousands of homes here in Hampton Roads with outstanding results. It’s a happy medium — being one of the more affordable gutter guard systems to have a strong warranty.
